At Leather Straps, I take great pride in my knife making process, which is entirely done by hand. Each knife is crafted with care and precision, using only the best materials and techniques to ensure a superior product.
My Leather Scalpels are made by Stock Removal, which is a process that involves removing material from a larger piece of steel to create the desired shape. The Forged Skiving knives, on the other hand, are created through hot forging. This process involves heating the steel to a high temperature and then hammering it into shape.
Once the knives have been shaped, I carefully hand finish each one up to a 16k grit stone to ensure a razor-sharp edge. I take great care in this process, as I believe that the quality of the edge is key to a knife’s performance.
Finally, each knife is placed in a custom kydex sheath to protect it from chipping. This is especially important for my knives, which have an exceptionally high HRC. I take great care in designing and crafting each sheath, ensuring that it fits the knife perfectly while providing maximum protection.
